Keveral Farm |
|
|
Info: Is an organic farming community near
Looe, Cornwall (in the south-west of England). The
original community was established in 1973, and the farm
is now owned and managed co-operatively by the members
of the community. We have about 15 adult members and 9
children. We live in a farmhouse, static caravans, a
wooden cabin and a converted pig-sty!
Our farm-based activities
include horticulture, veg boxes, camp site, orchards,
apple juice and cider, preserves, woodland and tree
work, joinery, mushrooms, herbal medicine. Some of us
also work off the farm.
Keveral Farm sits high
above the South Cornwall coast near Seaton, around five
miles from Looe. It has supported a community of
growers, using organic methods since the early seventies
becoming one of the first Soil Association Certified
farms. |

|
|
Info: The idea for Our Future Planet was
developed in 2006 and the charity was established in
2008. Our Future Planet evolved out of a desire to
rethink the direction the world is heading in and aims
to inspire people to create a better world in which to
live. Our Future Planet is an innovative website and
online community for anyone who wants to design and
create a future that does not unquestioningly follow on
from the ways of the past. |

Q & B |
|
|
Info: We are a growing network of Quakers and
others. Most of us are Quakers presently in membership
and all of us are in sympathy with what Friends stand
for in the world. We support Q&B's core purpose of
promoting Quaker principles in business and the
workplace. Some of us work in the charity and public
sectors at various levels of responsibility, others in
the profit making sector, where we are either self
employed, own and manage our own business, or work for
manufacturing or service companies.
We are widely, thinly spread across Local Meetings. The
Quakers & Business (Q&B) Group is the network through
which we find each other easily when we need. It also
gives us a collective voice. We welcome members, not
just Quakers, who are in sympathy with our aims. You can
join online here.
Q&B is a listed informal group within Britain Yearly
Meeting. We have members in other Yearly Meetings and
are in touch with similar networks elsewhere in the
world. You can find our Constitution in the Documents
section. |

Roots and
Shoots |
|
|
Info: Roots and Shoots is in Kennington,
south London, close to the Imperial War Museum and the
Houses of Parliament. Since the charity was founded 27
years ago, the one-acre former Civil Defence site has
been transformed. Where once a Meccano factory
engineering works and barrage balloon launch pad stood
are now our eco-training centre, plant nursery, shop,
Wildlife Study Centre and Wild Garden.
The charity was set up in 1982 by Linda Phillips, who is
still the Director, to help disadvantaged young people
from Lambeth and Southwark prepare for the world of
work. Up to twenty 16 - 19 year olds, all with
educational problems or issues , spend a year with us.
All have been unable to cope at school and many are at
odds with the world when they arrive at Roots and
Shoots. |
