Info: 'Her unique keepsake boxes catch the eye
with their rich layers of fabric and paper embellished
with hand and machine embroidery and delicate cutwork by
hand.' -- Embroidery Magazine
Working from a home studio in Leicester, I design and
make luxurious boxes for interior decoration, as
indulgent gifts, or the treasure keepsakes and memories.
Techniques include hand and machine embroidery,
layering, ripping, heat manipulation via soldering iron,
tea staining, and cutwork by hand. Every box is drawn
freehand to ensure each one is different, I only have a
template for the box shape. Materials include satins,
organzas, plastics, ribbons, papers such as old book
pages, tracing paper and textured recycled paper, and
found objects such as buttons. Each box is cut out by
hand to ensure each one is unique. Although beautiful, I
found laser cutting to be a bit too clinical for the
boxes. |

Info: The Indian Silver jewellery featured is all handcrafted in Jaipur in Rajasthan. The pieces are made using traditional methods using mangle, hammer, tin snips and heat. Some pieces are formed
in a mould and finished by hand. The stones inspire the designs and each piece is built around the shape of the stone. The jewellery is sourced from a family run company, currently being run by the grandson
of the founder, which has been assessed for Human Rights, Worker Safety and Manufacturing Competence and has satisfied all evaluations. The company supports a friendly hands on approach, gives high priority
to employees health and insurance, provides good working and pay conditions and does not support child labour. |
