Ethical Threads |
|
|
Info: Our ethos is simple, we are committed to
ensuring that everyone involved in the production of our
garments gets a fair deal. Our shirts are high quality,
ethically sourced, and sweat-shop free.
We supply T-shirts both
plain and printed to your specification requirements at
competitive prices. We now supply shirts to many other
artists, campaign groups, venues, festivals, unions and
NGOs. Customers include Amnesty International, The
National Film Theatre and Glastonbury Festival.
Ethical is a very broad
term, and initially our main concern was the fair
treatment of workers all the way through the supply
chain, using international labour standards as our
guide. Though this is very much still the case, we have
broadened our policy to include environmental and health
concerns, and now intend to phase in entirely organic
cotton stock. We are determined to use fair trade
certified cotton, where possible, so that the farmers
who toil in the fields receive a fair price for their
part.
99% of our business is
wholesale -- let us print or embroider your T-shirt when
you buy wholesale. |

forever amano |
|
|
Info: Make uniquely handcrafted knitwear,
clothing and accessories with a soft handle and texture,
using skilled artisans in South America. Countless hours
and years of knitting experience go into every piece.
There is thought and integrity in the process of
creating these precious and distinctive garments. These
items are limited editions and take days to make which
make them truly individual and special in times where
mass production is prolific.
Amano have introduced new
yarns over the years, offering knitwear in recycled hemp
and denim, cotton, organic cotton, cotton linens, wool,
wool and the luxurious alpaca blends, almost all yarns
being sourced in South America.
Buying an Amano sweater or garment from Bolivia is the
end of a process that takes the wearer to the heart of
the Andes. One must remember that Bolivia is one of the
poorest countries in the world, with a very undeveloped
economy, where political stability is dependent on the
generosity of the powerful nations of the west. Despite
these limitations, Amano and Yumiko have established a
brand of knitwear that is an expression of love
and character. |

Fowberry Alpacas |
|
|
Info: Situated in North Yorkshire, Northern
England, within reach of the border with Scotland, we
have, within our eighty alpacas, one of the largest
herds of AAA (Australian Alpaca Association Inc.)
registered alpacas in the United Kingdom, including the
inaugural Scottish National Alpaca Champion.
Whilst alpaca breeding and selecting our alpacas
primarily for superior fleece characteristics and
excellent conformation, we also have an eye to quality
colour -- from our Australian coloured females and also
from our home grown colours which include black, grey,
rose-grey, and various shades of browns and fawns. Our
cria have genetics drawn from the very best bloodlines
currently available worldwide and include our multi
prize-winning Australian-bred Alpaca Stud Males. Not
only do our offspring have the backing of years of
quality breeding in their pedigrees, but are given every
care, attention and encouragement to fulfil their
potential as healthy, happy and productive members of
our herd.
Our pure, un-dyed alpaca fleece is organically processed
to protect the natural lustre and elasticity of this
luxuriously soft fibre. Our yarn is made into a range of
hand-knitted, hand-woven and crochet alpaca garments:
from alpaca ponchos to alpaca scarves, alpaca gloves,
alpaca hats, along with many other hand made products. |

Frank & Faith |
|
|
Info: Is a Dorset based, socially conscious clothing label launched in Autumn 2006 by fashion designer and buyer, Faith, and her
chartered accountant husband, Frank. Our founding
philosophy is that our clothes look beautiful and
fashionable, and are manufactured in an ethical and sustainable way.
Our clothes will always use organic, recycled or sustainable yarns and
fabrics, be made ethically, and with equal importance – will always be fashionable.
Our aim is to produce
clothing ethically by manufacturing in Britain. The
usage of our "Made in Britain" label further promotes
locally produced goods and industries. This enables us
to be sure our garments are made fairly, as all
manufacturing falls under UK labour laws (including the
minimum wage), EU labour directives and International
Labour Organization conventions. In addition we can
easily visit our factories to assess working conditions
on a regular basis. This protects the Frank & Faith
brand from “Sweat Shop” manufacturing.
Frank & Faith support and
nurture small factories and businesses in Britain. These
are often in areas of deprived communities with high
unemployment. Our aim is to retain specialist skills
fast disappearing in the British Isles. This also
provides work for people who have trained to this skill
set in the UK. A further benefit is the reduced
environmental cost of transporting raw materials and
clothing around the world. Our garments have
significantly less “clothes miles” than many garments
manufactured in the Far East. |
