Chandni Chowk |
|
|
Info: Specialises in textiles, hand made in
India and Bangladesh by wonderfully skilled crafts
people to a very high quality. We are a fair trade
company producing two main fashion collections annually
(spring / summer and autumn / winter) along with several
satellite collections, usually with something extra
special about them such as our Tussah silk collection or
organic cotton range. We also have a constantly updated
Interiors collection which follows no set seasons, it
simply grows and changes as and when inspiration
dictates. To compliment both of these departments, we
have a range of accessories and jewellery.
Environmental, fair trade
and ethical issues are as fundamentally important to
Chandni Chowk today, as they were when the company first
started up in 1978. We are members of BAFTS (The British
Association for Fair Trade Shops), both as importers of
fairly traded goods and as retailers of fairly traded
goods.
Our aim is simply to try
minimise our impact on the environment. We only use
natural fibres and are working hard to develop our
organic cotton collections — we would love all our
products to be organic, but have had great difficulty in
sourcing genuine and certifiable organic fibres. We
believe that our principal suppliers of textiles from
India are representative of the very best of
contemporary practice, combining sound commercial
judgement with an uncompromising belief in fair and
sustainable economic partnerships, and a continuing
programme of development of more environmentally
'kinder' projects. |

Info: Linda Row believes that designing
clothes in this century requires an awareness of the
environmental impact of all raw materials used, from
growing the fibre to manufacturing and colouring the
cloth. Using organic cotton, organic linen and hemp, her
aim is to combine good design with ethical manufacture
and change the perception of green clothing.
All of our products are
designed using fabrics produced with low environmental
impact, colours that do not contain heavy metals, and
fastenings (which are biodegradable, avoiding the use of
metal). We don’t use synthetic interlings, we use our
fabric scraps for labelling, interlining and recycling,
and we ensure that everyone involved in the chain of
production is paid a fair wage. |

Colonel Kilgore
Clothing |
|
|
Info: We are proud to introduce a new and
original range of board wear clothing made with 100%
organic cotton. We created Colonel Kilgore with our
passion and love for our environment in mind. We believe
in supporting people who can work with our environment
and us, without causing damage.
Colonel Kilgore T-shirts
are certified organic cotton garments. Many hands and
minds have contributed to the design and production of
these garments, all in the spirit of preserving our
planet and fair trade. The amount of pesticides and
other chemical inputs used in growing non-organic cotton
makes it among the largest polluters of our environment.
You are personally contributing to the shift in
awareness of our responsibility to preserving the earth
by supporting the farmers, fabric and garment producers
and retailers of organic cotton. Colonel Kilgore
Clothing is fully commited to the environment, fair
trade and quality craftsmanship. |
