Ascension - the
new Adili |
|
|
Info: We thought, "if only there was a
department store where every collection on offer had the
highest possible eco credentials. Where fairly made,
organic and recycled products sat side by side,
beautifully crafted and desirably chic".
So, we set out to create
just this and have filled it with over 80 of the best
sustainable and fair brands from around the world.
Adili's philosophy is both idealistic and simple: to
bring you lovely, lifestyle things made beautifully,
made fairly, and wherever possible, made from organic
materials. We're working towards eco-perfection all the
time – sometimes we reach it, sometimes we know there's
a way to go. But we do everything in our power to get it
right, closely monitoring supply chains, supporting
suppliers, measuring and validating ethical credentials. |

Bacchia |
|
|
Info: Is an eco-ethnic-ethical store with
authentic traditional, natural, organic and fair trade
handmade products from all over the world. Bacchia was
created by a small group of people who were born and
raised in Athens. Soon our love and respect for nature
led us to the wondrous mountain of the Centaurs, Pelion,
where, along with developing Bacchia, we cultivate herbs
by using biodynamic methods.
After twenty years of
experience and study of ancient cultures and
ethnobotany, we created this unique site where you can
find carefully selected goods of the highest quality,
combining the natural and traditional ways of ethnic
cultures with the social and ecological awakening of our
era. An eco-ethnical market follows green policies based
on ethos and strong moral values, supports fair trade
and considers natural, organic, fair trade goods which
highlight the local, traditional and unique features of
every place of our planet. |

BareSatsuma |
|
|
Info: They are Tanya & Natasha. Between
them, they have five children, ranging up to 8 years
old. It wasn't until they had children themselves, they realised how many chemical 'nasties' there
are, lurking in the every day products that we use. This
concerned them greatly, as they try to feed their children a healthy diet, free from harmful pesticides and chemicals.
Unknowingly, they were exposing their children
to harmful toxins via their skin, and as the skin is the largest organ, and manages to absorb 60% of what is put onto it;
they found this rather alarming! They found it a struggle trying to source good quality,
affordable natural skincare alternatives that really worked. |
|
Beautiful Pure |
|
|
Info: It was launched in June 2007, to provide a
stunning range of beautiful natural and organic products
all in one place. At the time they felt that selling any
old natural products just wasn’t good enough! That’s why
they only offer products that provide their customers
the very best natural products that money can buy.
Simply put, any product they sell must not only be natural, but must
work effectively, look great and smell absolutely divine! |

Beautifully Organic |
|
|
Info: Organic and Natural Enterprise (ONE) Group, creators of the MiEssence, MiVitality and MiEnviron brands, is an environmentally-friendly and carbon neutral company. The 'plastic' bottles used
by the company are made from corn starch and are completely biodegradable. ONE Group does not advocate animal testing, with both its products and ingredients all being animal-cruelty free. Beautifully
organic also stocks Hydrea's luxurious natural bath and shower accessories range, which include certified organic towels, flannels and bathrobes, as well as body brushes, loofah and massage mitts. |
|
Beauty in a Box |
|
|
Info: It is reported that up to 65% of
products put on the skin are absorbed into the body.
Many cosmetic ranges contain artificial ingredients that
are absorbed on a daily basis. In an age where we are
looking to eat more healthy organic food, we must
question using products that are polluting our bodies by
putting chemicals onto the skin. Beauty in a Box will
persevere to meet the demand for a wide range of choices
in natural products. Continue with them in their quest to source high quality natural beauty supplies. |
|
Cornwall Soap Box |
|
|
Info: They have an ethical and sustainable
procurement policy and use local ingredients whenever
possible. They use fairly traded organic Shea and Cocoa Butter,
which they have sourced from a woman's
cooperative in Africa. Their beeswax and honey come from either a Zimbabwean organic fair trade farm,
or locally in Cornwall and they only use Cornish Spring water in
their soaps.
The main ingredient used in naturally produced soap is
olive oil. They have recently sourced an extra virgin olive
oil from Palestine, which is soon to be certified Organic and
Fair Trade. The olives are grown on the Gaza Strip and benefits the community, as the sale of the oil is the only source of income for the Farmers' Cooperative. |
|
