GirlsWithBeads |
|
|
Info: Rebecca Alderman started out by making
little bags and things from found objects, recycled
materials, plastic bags, old clothes, etc. Right from
the beginning, recycling was a very important issue for
gwb and she decided everything she produced would stick
to a green ethos. This passion developed into a range of
unique, handcrafted bags and accessories made from old
clothes, including flat caps, suit jackets and ties.
There is a gallery of
one-off creations that have been made over the last few
years and the shop from which you can purchase the most
recent designs.
GirlWithBeads is also
part of a fashion collective of eco-friendly designers
called Revamp and, as part of this group, exhibited at
Esthetica @ London Fashion Week in Sept 08, and a group
show at Time for Tea, Shoreditch for LFW in Feb 09. |

businesses at home as well as abroad. We make every
effort to minimise our impact on the envrionment by
using as little packaging as possible and trying to keep
any transport emissions to a minimum. Any packaging we
do use will be either recycled or recyclable and
bio-degradable or compostible.

Letsbeegreener
Shopping Bags |
|
|
Info: Our aim is to encourage people to reduce
their use of plastic bags, as almost 10 billion of these
bags are used in the UK alone every year. Plastic bags
are environmentally unfriendly in the extreme, filling
up landfills and taking an incredibly long time to
decompose. They also block drains, litter the landscape,
oceans and seas and have a devastating effect on some
wildlife.
The bags LetsBeeGreener
offers are made of 100% natural, 180gsm cotton, the
strongest cotton fabric available below canvas. We have
chosen this grade of fabric so that you not only have
strong bags, but they are soft enough to fold up small,
making them easy to carry, canvas and jute bags being
really too bulky and a hassle to carry around. |
