Bristol Wood Recycling Project |
|
|
Info: Aims to rescue, re-use and recycle some
of the tonnes of wood going to landfill locally. They
create volunteer, training and employment opportunities
for Bristol's social economy through doing this; as well
as providing affordable timber to the local community.
Bristol Wood Recycling
Project is a self funded not-for-profit social
enterprise. Not-for-profit means that BWRP's profit is
not distributed between shareholders or other
stakeholders. Instead, their profit is re-invested back
into the project; meaning more jobs, more training,
better equipment, and ultimately more waste being saved
from landfill. They envisage that their volunteers will
turn into paid employees. They are proud to be part of
Bristol's thriving social economy, creating
employmentand skill learning from what others see as
waste. |

LondonWaste
(North London) |
|
|
Info: Waste management has changed
dramatically over the past few years. Dependence on
landfill as the preferred method of waste disposal has
steadily reduced with alternative methods sought by
local authorities and commercial businesses. The
perception of what “waste” is has also changed and led
us all to look more closely at the three Rs. Reduce,
Reuse and Recycle with disposal as the last resort.
LondonWaste has developed
and extended its services to meet these challenges, and
is committed to the principle of sustainable waste
management. We recycle, compost and recover value in
the form of energy, from what’s left over. |
