SMARTWaste

Info:  SMARTWaste Plan is a free tool that has been developed by BRE to help the industry prepare, implement and review SWMPs in full compliance with the legal requirements. It can also be used to meet the Code for Sustainable Homes mandatory requirement for waste.

SMARTWaste Plan takes you through a step by step approach for your SWMP making it easy and user friendly. It also includes an optional integrated waste measurement tool (an updated and improved version of SMARTStart) to help you measure waste on your projects.


Sort-It

Info:  Is a national tool, developed as part of the Waste Aware Scotland* campaign, that provides information on the various alternatives available to householders to minimise the amount of waste that is sent to landfill. It aims to provide you with useful insights and practical advice on how you can reduce, reuse and recycle your household waste in Scotland. Sort It lists a wide range of local and national outlets, facilities and services to help you do this.


Sustainable Community Initiatives

Info:  Is an educational charity set up in August 2000 to demonstrate, inspire and support initiatives that build community through waste and renewable energy projects.


The GRAB Trust

Info:  Is a not for profit organisation with a charitable status. It was formed in 1993 to address waste and recycling issues in Argyll and Bute. GRAB undertakes a wide range of waste and recycling activities. They work with schools, the general public, local community recycling groups and businesses.

The average UK household creates 600kg of waste every year. Waste is expensive to dispose of and there are better options than just landfilling it. We all have a part to play.


Waste Aware Campus

Info:  The Scottish Waste Awareness Group (SWAG) was set up in 2000 with the remit of changing public attitudes and behaviour towards waste. One of SWAG's key aims is to deliver the Waste Aware Scotland campaign.* The programme aims to raise awareness of, and change public attitudes and behaviour towards reduce, reuse and recycle. To help specific sectors become more waste aware, SWAG has developed a number of national waste aware tools, including the Waste Aware Campus website. The Waste Aware Campus website is funded by the Scottish Government and has also been endorsed by the Environmental Association for Universities and Colleges (EAUC).

The Scottish Government has also launched the It's Our Future campaign, which aims to encourage more people, to think now about the steps we can all take to live within our environmental means. The Waste Aware Campus campaign is funded by the Scottish Government, as part of their commitment to a Greener Scotland.


Waste Aware Grampian

Info:  Is a campaign run in partnership between Aberdeen City Council, Aberdeenshire Council and the Moray Council. Its main aim is to reduce the amount of waste that is currently sent to landfill, by encouraging households to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle as much of their waste as possible.


Waste Aware Scotland

Info:  The Scottish Waste Awareness Group (SWAG) was set up in 2000 with the remit of changing public attitudes and behaviour towards domestic waste. One of SWAG’s key aims is to deliver the national campaign, Waste Aware Scotland*. This campaign aims to raise awareness of, and change public attitudes and behaviour towards Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.


Waste Aware Tayside

Info:  Waste Aware Tayside is a partnership between Angus Council, Dundee City Council, Perth & Kinross Council and the Scottish Waste Awareness Group to provide information to help you Reduce the amount of waste you create, Reuse items and Recycle materials in Tayside. On this site you will find information about waste and how to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle in the areas covered by Angus, Dundee and Perth and Kinross Councils.


Waste Online

Info:  The WasteOnline website is managed by Waste Watch and has been funded by the New Opportunities Fund Digitise project. We recognised that there is a need for a website that provides information on sustainability, resource use and waste issues to many stakeholders, regardless of their location and introductory knowledge level, in an accessible and effective manner. The documents contained on this site have been reproduced with permission from their respective publishers/producers, who retain all copyrights.


Waste Watch

Info:  Is a UK environmental charity working to change the way people use the world's natural resources. Their vision is a world where people use resources effectively, live sustainably and make a positive contribution to the environment. They advise, educate and support people to make changes to their lives that will reduce their environmental impact and improve their quality of life.


Wiser

Info:  They offer the most safety conscious and environmentally beneficial fluorescent tube recycling service available. They aim to provide their forward thinking customers the highest standards to protect your workforce and the environment. They do this by providing secure storage for tubes and bulbs which protect against breakages, the ability to quickly and safely crush the tubes on site, and to transport larger numbers of crushed tubes from the site to the permitted recycling and recovery sites of our associates.


WRAP

Info:  Helps individuals, businesses and local authorities to reduce waste and recycle more, making better use of resources and helping to tackle climate change.
