Askerton Castle Estate |
|
|
Info: Is an organic farm specialising in hardy
native breeds in the beautiful wild countryside near
Hadrian’s Wall in North East Cumbria.
We breed pedigree Belted Galloway cattle, Kerry Hill and
Scottish Blackface sheep, Tamworth and Berkshire pigs;
our purebred hens provide organic eggs, and we breed a
small number of Muscovy ducks, and Toulouse geese. Most
of the livestock are traditional rare breeds. We also
breed alpacas and sell fibre, as well as Belted Galloway
rugs.
We have an on-farm butchery which enables us to cut,
prepare and pack all the fresh meat we sell – some
products are garnished using seasonal organic
vegetables, herbs and fruit from our small kitchen
garden.
We sell what is born and bred on our farm, giving our
customers complete assurance that our livestock has been
cared for by us from start to finish to produce the
finest quality British meat. Askerton Castle Estate is a
1458 acre organic livestock farm, certified fully
organic since September 2004 and is run by Jane Eden and
Chris Evans. |
