The Green Cube |
|
|
Info: My work mainly focuses on nature and
natural materials, and I am particularly interested in
relationships and tensions between the natural and the
urban environments. As I feel that art is very much a
shared thing, I enjoy involving other people in the
creation of my work. |

The Wire Studio |
|
|
Info: Laura J Antebi has travelled the world
for artistic inspiration during the past 15 years,
journeying through Africa, the Middle and Far East and
the New World. These experiences led to the development
of her practise as a figurative artist, exploring nature
and form in 2D and 3D.
Using a variety of media,
recycled materials and processes, Laura endeavours to
unite art with the spiritual essence through the sense
of the transitory; to create figures that convey
spontaneity and freedom of movement. |

Info: You will find extraordinary products all
made exclusively within Scotland’s borders. Each item
has been chosen to bring you, or your loved ones as
special gifts, years of pleasure. They are beautiful,
functional, timeless, (mostly) handcrafted treasures,
often unique to the cultural heritage of Scotland,
always of exceptional quality and many of which will be
made especially for you -- patience has its own rewards.
90% of our offerings are priced on the fair trade model
so that two thirds of the retail price goes directly to
the artisan.
Creating an environment
of regeneration, of giving back to sustain what we value
most, promoting the culture of a people that has given
so much to the world at large and preserving the
traditional manner of doing things ‘just because’ is an
honour for us. To that end, 8% of our pre-tax profits
from every product sold through Thistle & Broom will
endow carefully selected charitable organisations which
serve to preserve, protect or restore an element of
Scotland's heritage. |

Tracey Falcon |

|
Info: Uses a variety of media in her works,
including video, projection, text, performance and sound
and, for the past few years, she has primarily made work
using newspaper, end on, a little like looking at pages
in a closed book. This use of newspaper started as an
‘in your face’ reaction to certain political situations.
However, over time certain properties of newspaper as a
material have become of more importance to her. Her
current series concentrates more on form. Here the paper
conjures wood, concrete, paper, rock strata, land. It is
used under compression and, like land, this forms its
own rhythm and flow, suggestive of movement although
static in its present form. Each work has its own story.
Recycling paper, recycling news and opinion. History
echoing around the walls. The writing in the wall.
Newspaper has everything, the rhythm of life. Her
'Already Read' newspaper works are exhibited widely. |
