Andean Fair
Trade Craft Shop |
|
|
Info: Ecuador is a country steeped in history
and culture with influences from Pre-Colombian,
colonial, and Afro-Caribbean sources that have produced
a unique blend of visual and and textile crafting not
found elsewhere in the world.
From 2000 BC to nowadays, Andean crafting techniques
have not changed, passing from one generation to
another. The reason for the survival of this crafting
tradition is due to the great importance of textiles,
crafting and art in the Andean culture.
We have large range of hand-made Andean crafts all
fair-traded in the Ecuadorian Mountains. |

Anne Honeyman -
Textile Artist & Embroidery Designer |
|
|
Info: As a textile artist, I revel in the
infinite creative possibilities of my chosen medium.
Although I specialise in free machine embroidery, I draw
on a wide range of techniques to realise my ideas. These
include papermaking, felting, hand embroidery, dyeing
and metalwork. My work is varied and constantly
evolving, but recurring themes emerge – especially the
natural environment and man’s impact upon it through the
ages. As well as wall-hung art, I make 3D decorative and
functional objects such as bowls, bags and jewellery. I
also design projects for magazines, helping to bring
contemporary embroidery to a wider audience. |

Anthony Roussel
- Sculptural Jewellery |
|
|
Info: Believes that good design and
responsible supply chains go hand in hand, just as good
business and ethics are possible. He can trace the
origin of the source of all the woods he works with, which is of utmost importance in an
increasingly ethical and eco conscious market. They are
naturally dyed using water filtration systems, and also
coloured using milk based paints. All the precious
metals that are incorporated into Roussel’s designs have
been sourced from suppliers that mine legitimately.
A light-weight, strong and robust material, wood offers
the maximum possibilities in terms of construction and
wearability. Patiently bonding very thin layers of
birch, maple, ash, sycamore and walnut, Roussel is able
to create astonishingly beautiful forms. This humble
material is then lasered sealing the edges of the wood
and releasing the natural oils while removing any
possibility of splinters. The milk based paints applied
to the material are completely natural, odourless and
non allergic. |

Bacchia |
|
|
Info: Is an eco-ethnic-ethical store with
authentic traditional, natural, organic and fair trade
handmade products from all over the world. Bacchia was
created by a small group of people who were born and
raised in Athens. Soon our love and respect for nature
led us to the wondrous mountain of the Centaurs, Pelion,
where, along with developing Bacchia, we cultivate herbs
by using biodynamic methods.
After twenty years of
experience and study of ancient cultures and
ethnobotany, we created this unique site where you can
find carefully selected goods of the highest quality,
combining the natural and traditional ways of ethnic
cultures with the social and ecological awakening of our
era. An eco-ethnical market follows green policies based
on ethos and strong moral values, supports fair trade
and considers natural, organic, fair trade goods which
highlight the local, traditional and unique features of
every place of our planet. |

Bits and Bobs |
|
|
Info: Is a social enterprise that aims to
create employment for people with disabilities in a
reuse business and related environmentally friendly
ventures. It remains the cheapest place to source a wide
range of materials and is accessible to the whole
community. You will always find a friendly face to serve
you and share our enthusiasm for creative activity
which minimises waste.
Bits and Bobs is a reuse
project that makes unwanted arts and crafts supplies
available to their members, with the hope that we will
give them a new lease of life. Unwanted wool and ribbon
may find a new home in a nursery class and off-cuts of
card and foam may be magically transformed into masks
from around the world! We are a low cost resource for
many community groups, teachers, playleaders, families
and students. |

Carole Beavis -
Wildwood Products |
|
|
Info: Lives and works in Derbyshire, planting
living willow sculptures and structures in the winter,
and making wildwood chairs, tables and baskets in the
summer. Never happier than when outside in the beautiful
woodlands around her home, she has created a range of
chairs and tables which allow us to bring a little of
that magic home. Most of the pieces are made from
locally, sustainably sourced wood, driftwood rescued
from the sea and found objects. |

Consuelo
Radclyffe |
|
|
Info: I make three dimensional sculptures
using clay, wire, paper and disregarded materials. My
work expresses a mixture of my own memories, with
provocative tales embebbed in childhood memories. I
engage narratives from cultural traditions, including my
country of birth Brazil, exploring nostalgia and joyful
play times mixed with sibling rivalry and childhood
insecurities. The expressions on the faces are essential
to demonstrate the psychological state of mind of being
a child, inviting the viewers to contemplate the
interior world of the subject. |

creative
charlie - art & craft for kids |
|
|
Info: All of our art and craft projects have
been designed by Kerri Sellens, an artist with over 10
years experience of running art workshops for children
in schools, galleries and museums. Each project contains
everything you need to complete a variety of fun and
stimulating artistic activities with your child. Easy to
follow instruction sheets, along with all of the
necessary art equipment, are included. All project
content has been carefully sourced to provide
child-friendly and age-appropriate materials.
We think kids should be
able to use recyclable, renewable, ethical products from
an early age. As such, Creative Charlie is developing
products with our environment in mind. All of the paper
and card used throughout is recycled and, where
possible, contents and packaging are reusable rather
than disposable. By using these materials, Creative
Charlie provides an exciting way to introduce
environmental issues to young children.
Designed for 3 to 6 year
olds, the art and craft projects are an opportunity for
adult and child to engage together in creative and green
play. |
