OakCraft |
|
|
Info: Are experts in creating traditional oak
frame buildings. Based in Hampshire, we also have
offices in Berkshire and Kent. We specialise in
modular and bespoke designed oak garages, annexes,
extensions, garden rooms, pool houses, trusses,
orangeries, pergolas -- the list is endless. We operate
nationally and design and craft all of our oak frame
buildings at our sawmills in Holmsley, Hampshire which
has been producing fine timber products since the 1880s.
All our oak comes from
sustainable resources in managed forests. The use of
such timber is therefore more environmentally friendly
than the use of other building materials. Many oak
framed buildings have lasted for hundreds of years,
every bit as well as others of the same age built in
stone or brick. We expect that one of our oak-framed
buildings, on a proper foundation, will last for many
centuries with reasonable maintenance -- oak itself
requires little or no maintenance. |

Wood shavings are extracted, filtered, stored and then

runs through site management. Where possible, a quantity

Roofing Solutions UK |
|
|
Info: From Ireland to the Isle of Wight, we
are leading loft insulation suppliers, offering
reflective foil insulation for domestic and commercial
use. What’s more, we offer BBA and LABC thermal
approved insulation, with low emission high reflection
systems available to UK and Republic of Ireland
customers.
Insulating the envelope
of a builing`s conditioned space yields these key
benifits: provides a much more comfortable, productive
and livable structure; in addition, the effects of
moisture condensation and air movement are minimized in
well-insulated buildings; this results in lower
maintance costs and increased logevity of the building
structure; reduces energy requirements, which lower
utility bills; supports economic, environmental and
energy conservation goals. This is evidenced by the
numerous studies sponsored by the energy commission. |

The Oak Frame Building Company |
|
|
Info: Specialist design and construction of
traditional and contemporary green oak frames for
houses, extensions, conservatories, studios, garages,
barns, stables, bridges, roofs etc.
Oak contains tannic acid
(a natural preservative), hence its longevity and why
there are 800 year old buildings still in use. There is
no reason why a timber building will not last forever,
if maintained. Most people sandblast the inside, which
then stays a pale honey colour, while the outside
weathers to a silver grey, unless oiled, which tends to
yellow it. Green oak is comparatively cheap -- around a
quarter the cost of seasoned. We buy from managed
plantations and as such is an infinitely renewable
resource, with no evident shortage created by current
demand. |
