Gaze Burvill |
|
|
Info: We design Gaze Burvill outdoor
furniture for people who enjoy the quiet pleasure of
owning pieces offering exceptional comfort, lasting
quality and beauty.
Consideration for the
environment was one of our original concerns, as we are
unwilling to use resources which are not regenerated at
a sufficient rate to halt the erosion of the world’s
rainforests. However, we remain determined not to
compromise on the quality and durability of our
output.
Our first choice of
material was therefore oak: strong, durable, with a
transparent supply chain of timber from regenerated
forests close to home. Oak also has another advantage,
which is that it is simply the craftsman’s favourite
resource. Oak from the forests of Europe is one of the
most durable temperate hardwoods. From timber framed
buildings to old ships, our continent is littered with
testimony to this fact. |

Guy Martin |
|
|
Info: 'He believes that design is a listening
process and responsibility and should serve the needs of
humankind and the interests of the environment. Using
renewable local materials and ecologically sound methods
of manufacture, Martin produces pieces that reject
market led criteria in favour of the needs and desires
of individual people. His entire philosophy of making is
founded on his belief in the value of purity and
integrity. Martin’s faith in sustainable practice is
governed by a strong sense of spirituality and service
as exemplified by vernacular craft communities.' Sara

Julienne Dolphin Wilding |
|
|
Info: My work has developed specifically
within environmental concerns. I describes myself as an
artist and an environmentalist. I use durable
materials that do not break and survive the life of the
product; recycled materials; materials fabricated from
factory production waste, and natural raw materials. |

Julie Starks -
Environmental Artist |
|
|
Info: I create artwork that reflects my
fascination with ecosystems, sustainability and the
fractal nature of our world. Much of my work is based on
looking closely at the ‘small’ worlds which surround us,
sometimes to microscopic detail, emphasising the beauty
of structure, texture and pattern. Using wood, metal,
willow rods and other reclaimed materials I produce
sculpture, seating and creatively landscape with living
willow. My Photography details the life cycles of
surfaces and plant structures, and is a constant
inspiration for other artwork. I work for exhibition, to
private commission and deliver creative projects within
community environments.
I have worked with a
diverse range of client groups such as Greenpeace, The
National Trust, Westonbirt Arboretum, Bath International
Music Festival and Womad Festival, as well as many Youth
and Community groups across the UK. |
