orangebox |
|
|
Info: Improving environmental performance is
not a new concept for Orangebox. We've worked
consistenly to introduce environmental imrovements for
over a decade and, whilst 'Tread Softly' may be our new
way of expressing our environmnetal commitment, the
truth is that we've been trying to walk on tip toes for
years. We have implemented an environmental
business model that addresses sustainability from three
sides of our business and are working with recognised
environmental consultancies Best Foot Forward and
Climate Care to carry out ecological and carbon
footprinting to further optimise our performance and
have been awarded full FISP accreditation by FIRA.
Firstly -- our
environmental approach to product design focuses on the
use of sustainable materials and the use of minimal
energy for product manufacturing. As well, all of our
products are designed for long service life. Secondly --
our supply chain is optimised to aid sustainable
consumption by actively reducing ‘product miles’ and
our key suppliers support their environmental
aspirations by acting as material researchers and
innovators. Thirdly -- we believe that an environmental
agenda should always be a key driver in our growth.
This ‘business eco-culture’ is evident throughout the
company, from the boardroom to our delivery drivers,
in our product development strategy, our staff
training and ultimately, in. |

Pink Hat |
|
|
Info: Brings you contemporary, stylish
interior design with the emphasis on natural, reclaimed
and sustainable materials, such as wooden flooring from
sustainable timber, fabrics dyed using organic pigments,
low-energy lighting, and VOC-free natural paints. In
addition to the benefits to the environment these
natural decorating products and furnishings also bring
benefits to the homeowner.
During the decorating
process there are no strong, toxic fumes -- even when
using gloss paint or floor varnish -- and in the
long-term there will be no leeching of dangerous
substances into the environment from chemically treated
fabrics and furnishings. This makes eco-decorating and
design the ideal choice for everyone, but especially
allergy sufferers, asthmatics, babies and the elderly. |

Rustic Designs |
|
|
Info: This father and son team specialize in
refined rustic furniture, such as birch bark case pieces
and select twig mosaics. They also design western barn
wood décor, and install unique rustic interior elements.
Each piece is handcrafted to be used as functional
heirloom-quality furniture, and is intended to meet the
client’s needs by working together during the design
process. Traditional woodworking techniques are commonly
used in this rustic furniture, such as mortise and tenon
joinery, dovetail drawers, and veneering. To ensure the
beauty of your rustic furnishings, hand-rubbed tung oils
are applied to the hardwood tops, and quality urethanes
are used to preserve the branches and bark.
Our selective harvesting
methods allow us to use all portions of the raw
materials, including the tree roots and bark. Selecting
the wood to use greatly depends on how the raw material
has aged after being air-dried, and also how that
particular species will hold up for the intended use.
Many of these pieces are fashioned with golden birch,
maple, cedar, salvaged barn timbers, figured live-edge
hardwoods, willow saplings, bark, river stone, acorns,
and pine cones. |
